Tourism Information Officer

30 hours per week | up to $20 per hour

Responsibilities and Duties:

Working closely with the Executive Director, the Tourism Information Officer is responsible for:  

●  Answering questions from tourists, visitors, local residents and other tourism industry colleagues, in person, over the phone, via email or online
●  Making suggestions on downtown shops, restaurants, attractions, and events
●  Providing literature and information on places of interest downtown
●  Selling merchandise and downtown dollars
●  Distributing print advertising material to downtown shops and external visitors
●  Undertaking general clerical and office duties
●  Putting together statistics concerning the number and nature of enquiries
●  Being responsible for overall presentation of the downtown core, maintaining clean streets and handling streetscape complaints
●  Participating in downtown events and helping market downtown initiatives and promotions

What we’re looking for:

●  Experience/post-secondary education in tourism, event planning, or project management 
●  Creative, adaptable, detail-oriented, hard-working, organized and dependable
●  Strong communication skills, both verbal and written 
●  Knowledge/experience using newsletter software, G-Suite, Canva, social- media platforms
●  Available to work during planned events or some weekends (flexible schedule) 
●  Must be able to work effectively without any supervision
●  Must be able to work full-time on-site at 208 King Street in Midland, Ontario and around the downtown Midland area

Requirements and Qualifications:

This role is part of the 2025 Canada Summer Jobs program for individuals aged 15-30. Applicants must meet the following requirements:

●  Be between 15-30 years of age at the start of the position
●  Be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or someone to whom Refugee Status has been granted/conferred
●  Have a valid SIN

International students, and those who are here in Canada on a work, youth, or visitor visa/permit are not eligible for the program.
