Position Overview

The Downtown Midland BIA is seeking a dynamic and organized Communications Coordinator to lead communications, marketing, and event coordination initiatives within the downtown core. This role plays a key part in enhancing the visibility, vibrancy, and visitor experience of downtown Midland by supporting local businesses and delivering engaging events.

Key Responsibilities

Event Planning & Coordination

  • Plan, organize, and execute community events within the downtown core
  • Coordinate event logistics including permits, vendors, equipment, and timelines
  • Assist with the Town of Midland to ensure compliance with municipal requirements

Communications & Marketing

  • Create and distribute promotional materials (digital and print)
  • Manage communications with BIA members, stakeholders, and partners
  • Promote events, initiatives, and downtown activities through various channels
  • Maintain consistent branding and messaging for the downtown core

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with BIA members

Visitor Experience

  • Help with initiatives to improve the overall downtown visitor experience
  • Support beautification, wayfinding, and engagement efforts
  • Gather feedback and identify opportunities for improvement

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills, including speaking, listening, and interpersonal interaction
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities
  • Ability to adapt goals and strategies in response to changing circumstances
  • Team-oriented mindset with a willingness to support colleagues and shared objectives
  • Experience in event planning, communications, or marketing (preferred)
    Comfortable working with multiple stakeholders and managing competing priorities

DETAILS

  • Contract term: June 1 to August 29, 2026
  • Compensation: $20.00 hourly/30 hours per week
