The Downtown Midland Comes to Life: Art and Ambiance project is designed to draw both tourists and local residents to our main street through a variety of creative enhancements, including:
Placemaking Patios: Inviting outdoor spaces for relaxation and socializing, launched for the 2024 summer and fall seasons.
Immersive Soundscapes: Mounted speakers creating a unique auditory experience, launching for the 2024 holiday season.
Dazzling Light Installations: Transforming the streetscape into a visual delight with seasonal light displays.
Public Art: Featuring a mural on the exterior of the Chamber of Commerce building, a pop-up mural revitalizing a King Street grey space, bollards, and banners along King Street—all created by local artists inspired by our local landscape.
Local artists have been selected to have their unique pieces of artwork displayed along King Street. The designs celebrate our area’s natural environment and bring more colour, beauty, pride and enjoyment to our streets. Artwork adorned flagpoles this summer and bollard covers lined King Street for the summer and fall seasons.
Alongside My Main Street, this public art initiative was made possible in part by Tourism Simcoe County. Learn more at experience.simcoe.ca.
